Philadelphia Inquirer: Hey, that neanderthal dude might clean up good
The Inquirer’s Faye Flam, who tends to get right to the birds and the bees angle on the news, looks at an artist’s depiction of a bare Neanderthal man and puts him on her maybe list. The story is about DNA — remember a short time ago that researchers are going to try to reconstruct the Neanderthal genome — and speculation whether Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis interbred a bit in iceage Europe. This is one of the more readable recent excursions through paleoanthropology news. The image has nothing to do with Faye’s story; it is scurrilous, it popped up on Google Image, and caught The Tracker’s Eye.
