Wash. Post: DC is the new North Carolina
The hed on this post is off a quote David A. Fahrenthold got for his story on a National Arbor Day Foundation revision of its climate zone maps. Optimal zones for cold-hardy trees are shifting farther north while trees happier in milder climates are moving up from the south. He writes that the findings reveal climate change “scaled down to lawn level,” a rather nice turn of phrase. He also generalizes the story with bits on the creep of climate zones elsewhere in the nation.
