Mostly Calif, Western Media: A wild (and collared) wolf in California. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen his like..
Welcome to the Golden State, young Mr. OR7.
It is time to catch up on the excitement of recent weeks as wildlife monitors followed the wanderings of this young male gray wolf that started off from northeast Oregon and wended his way southwesterly toward, and finally on December 28, into California. Last word had the two-year-old lobo in Siskiyou County. So while the killing of resurgent, re-introduced wolves accelerates in the Northern Rockies (see this LATimes account by William Gibson), their kin to the west are extending range.
Here is a sampling of stories that ran after the animal crossed the Ore-CA line, and which tend to include summary of the trek by it
and its mother that preceded it.
