We encourage science writers to comment on stories and discuss their merits or journalistic challenges.

But before you can post a comment on a story we must approve your registration. This is a one-time process that may take a few hours. Sorry for the delay, but we must verify that you are a journalist, journalism student or professor, or PIO for a scientific institution.

If you’re looking to subscribe to a daily e-mail of posts, you may do that in a box near the top of the right-hand column, the one that says “Newsletter” “enter your email.” You will then receive an e-mail asking you to confirm your subscription, which you must do to make it effective.

You may also get an RSS feed of the posts. Just drag the “RSS” (in the list of links at the right) to a folder in your news aggregator. Or right-click on “Entries” or “Comments” and click on “Copy Link Location.” Then paste it into your RSS reader.

If your comment contains more than one link, it will not automatically be posted. Instead–because that is sometimes a sign of spam–it will be held for moderation and be posted when one of us has had a chance to see it and approve it.
